Woodsy Granville Island Wedding – Charlene & Jason

Check out the video, and then browse the beautiful photos!

Charlene and Jason’s wedding was one of the most authentic events we shot this summer. Between the hand-made jewellery that Charlene’s grandmother made for her, the intimate beachfront ceremony  and the beautiful decor of the reception, it was easy to see that this couple is the type of couple you’d want to be friends with. 2014-11-06_0011

On what was likely the last super hot day of the summer, the wedding guests and Family Creative Imagery had to fight the traffic while we hopped back and forth between Granville Island and Spanish Banks – although just one look at the incredible photos shows that it was worth it.

Tip for the Brides: Don’t forget to factor in potential issues like traffic and parking when you are planning your perfect day – if it’s the middle of the summer, you are getting married on a beach and are having your reception at a super busy tourist location, make sure you add lots extra travel time ;)

Some of our favourite moments from Charlene and Jason’s wedding included the fact that she wore awesome boots under her wedding dress, the hilarious bride vs groom game – where we learned that Jason actually does most of the cooking and cleaning (Charlene’s a lucky gal), and the acoustic guitar playing singer they had hired for the ceremony.

When we went to shoot the wedding party photos on Granville Island, we encountered a group of photography students. As soon as they realized that we were shooting a legitimate wedding, they jumped right in and started taking photos themselves! It made for a good laugh, and we’re sure it truly helped Jason and Charlene realize that this was THEIR day, paparazzi included.

The reception took place at the False Creek Community Centre, which was decked out with a very rustic woodsy vibe, with branches, pine cones and logs throughout the venue – even helping to keep the cake standing, all elegantly designed by Wedding Design Studio.

Something that really stood out to us, was just how involved and loving Charlene and Jason’s family and friends were to help ensure their special day was a success, from family friends catering the wedding, to many homemade decorations and guests who’d travelled halfway around the world to be with them on their wedding day.

We are sure that as the years pass, Charlene and Jason will be look back on their incredible day with happiness, gratitude and laughter.
