We use a combination of photojournalistic style along with creative portrait photo sessions to get the most out of your day. We try to remain ‘the fly on the wall’ for those intimate moments during the ceremony and reception. The last thing we want is to distract anyone; however, during the 1-2 hours we have set aside for portraits we can get creative with locations, shots and poses.
We are timeless, classic and elegant when it comes to our photography and photo books, so we tend to avoid trends or fads. We want to make sure you don’t regret using that latest trendy photoshop filter 5 years from now.
At our consultation you’ll have the opportunity to view some example wedding photo books, or if you’d like to see an example of full wedding coverage, please email us, and we’ll send you a link.
We use a combination of cinematic and documentary style with our videos.
We avoid trends and fads because we want your video to be classic, and beautiful. We want you to look back at your video in 5, 10, or even 20 years from now and not regret that you used a cheesy video filter or effect. In everything that we shoot, we try to remain as unobtrusive as possible, and capture the day as it goes, following the flow of events.
If you’d like to see an example of a full length wedding video edit, just let us know, and we’ll bring a DVD to our consultation, which you can then skip through on your own, at your leisure.
Most videos end up being 1-2 hours, but the total length of your video will depend on how long your wedding day is. We always capture the ceremony in it’s entirety – we get all the speeches, performances, the first dance, etc., at the reception. The remaining portions (getting ready, the photo session, reception intro) of the video are cut up into cinematic video montages to tell the story of the day using beautiful, creative shots of all the little details and special moments.
Basically we don’t ever cut out anything important.
Every wedding video we shoot includes a full length video and an online HD highlight reel. We deliver your video as a high definition video file on a one of a kind eco-friendly engraved USB flash drive
Every photography package includes a free engagement session, and all the touched up and edited wedding photos are delivered on a one of a kind engraved eco-friendly USB flash drive. Our beautiful eco-friendly wedding photo albums can be added on, or purchased separately.
The reason that we include engagement sessions is because they are a crucial step in our process. The relaxed, fun, 1-2 hours of time we spend shooting your engagement photos really allows us to get to know you, what your quirks are, what your best angles are, how you and your fiancé interact, etc… so that on the day of your wedding, we are all totally comfortable with each other, which makes your wedding photos so much better! The engagement sessions are completely free, so whether you want to do the engagement session or not, the price will not change.
Absolutely! We have worked with many other photography companies, and we work with them the exact same way we would work with our own photographers. Before the wedding, we get your photographer’s info from you. We send them an email and introduce ourselves, and let them know we’re excited to work with them!
We are both aiming for the same result – to make you, the couple, happy! If you’re in this situation, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d love to talk to you about it more in person.
Currently we shoot all of our weddings with Canon 7D and 5D DSLR cameras. These are our photography cameras, but they shoot 1080 HD video footage as well. These cameras, with the combination of lenses and other video equipment, are what give us our signature cinematic video look. We use flash photography when needed, but prefer natural light. We use wireless microphones, ‘shotgun’ microphones and recording devices to get the best possible audio. We shoot with tripods, glide tracks and glidecams to get creative footage. We use small lights when a little extra light is needed, but don’t over do it and destroy your ambience and atmosphere you’ve worked hard to create.
You can see some of our behind the scenes photos on our Facebook page.
Every wedding that FCI is hired for, either Megan or Jamie takes the ‘lead’ as your photographer and/or videographer, as well as your go-to-girl for all communication leading up to, during and after the wedding day.
If you have a preference of either Megan or Jamie, just let us know when you contact us for a consultation.
The booking process is a 2 step process:
Initial consultation – you meet with us, and ask us all your questions. You have a chance to get to know us, how we work, and see if FCI would be a good fit for you and your wedding day.
Online booking – after the consultation, we’ll send you a link to a ‘client site’ where you’ll be able to see your quote and contract. When you’ve decided to book us for your wedding photography and/or videography, all you have to do is sign the contract online. We’ll countersign, and once your $500 date retainer is paid, your wedding date is official booked!
We take payments by Interac E-transfer, or PayPal (so you can use your credit card, and get those points!). A $500 date retainer is due at the time of booking, and the remaining balance is to be paid in full one month prior to the wedding date. We require the payment up front, and in full, in order to get the supplies we need, book the proper rentals, and to make sure we can pay our crew. Couples also find this beneficial because they don’t need to worry about having to have a cheque on the wedding day.
If you are booking a large package (over $3000) you may want to divide the payments up in to smaller chunks; this is totally up to you. Just send us a payment, and we’ll make record of it for you. Our contract covers all the additional information regarding payment, refunds, overtime, etc.
We consider what we do an art form, and just like an author never publishes the first draft of their novel, or an artist never reveals a painting until it’s complete, we also do not release the raw video footage or photos.
The number of photographs you receive will range depending on the number of hours you have us booked for. We sift through the thousands of photos, pick out the best ones, and edit anything we need to – these are the photos that we deliver. You will receive approximately 30 to 40 photos for every hour of coverage.
For wedding videos, you will have all the best footage and all the coverage of the events. On average we include 85-90% of all the footage we shoot, but we’ve gone through the painstaking task of colour correcting, tweaking audio and placing footage at just the right moments to music to make a cinematic wedding video. The remaining 15% or so, is usually footage that is repetitive, shaky from the camera moving to get a better shot, or nothing is happening (what we call ‘a dead moment’).
We’re clean cut, professional, and all in black. You can see some of our behind the scene photos on our Facebook page.
If your wedding is taking place in the Vancouver Lower Mainland you’re most likely within the included 150 km. If we end up have to drive more then 150 kms there will be an additional charge applied. We will talk about these details during your consultation.
Due to recent events in the wedding videography industry, we have decided to err on the side of the law, only using licensed wedding music for all online wedding highlight videos. Unfortunately this means that most likely we won’t be able to use your favourite song for the highlight reel – we welcome any suggestions that you have, but ultimately, we will be picking the song.
In fact, there are actually some huge benefits to letting us pick the music…
1)We knnnoooow you don’t want to be sued, and we most definitely don’t want to get sued. So let’s not run that risk!
2)Music can hold a lot of memories… The fact that you’ve most likely never heard the song before means there aren’t any memories already associated with this song. Not only does it become the soundtrack to your wedding day, but it will become a part of your wedding story. (And how cool is that?!)
3)Your cousin’s best-friend’s sister’s wedding video will not have the same song as you!
4)It makes the wedding highlight video surprise that much more of a surprise.
5)You’ll be supporting indie musicians – some of which are even local! (That’s our favourite part.)
(pssst… we do let you make a list of songs you’d like to hear in your full length video cause that one doesn’t go online.)
Usually 3 months or less, depending on the circumstances. We’ll check in with you and let you know how we’re progressing if anything comes up.
