One of the best things about being a wedding videography company located out of Vancouver, BC, is the diversity of the couples we have the opportunity to shoot with. Our first Nigerian wedding was this summer with Esther + Kunle, because we’d never shot a Nigerian wedding before, we made sure to do some research so we knew what to expect.

We loved that Esther and Kunle had a traditional Nigerian engagement party prior to their actual wedding ceremony, out at the West Langley Community Hall. Many of the member’s wore beautiful, bright colourful dresses and hats and each family had their own MC to speak on their behalf. There was a lot of singing and dancing involved in the ceremony, as well as Esther’s sister reading a letter written to ask the brides family to let their daughter get married. It was a truly beautiful, and traditional moment.
The wedding ceremony itself was a white gown wedding, in which the MC gave a moving speech about forgiveness being a key item to a successful marriage. Afterwards, we went to Bear Creek Park for photos, and headed to the reception. During the speeches at dinner, we learned that Kunle’s father had passed away when he was younger, but that he thought of Esther’s father as his own having spent so much time with him and the family.
We ended the evening with both the parents from both sides dancing, followed by the wedding party and finally Esther + Kunle – they are all incredible dancers!
